ShiaChat is down!

Yes. ShiaChat is still down. Don't really know what has happened. I've not been on the site for about a week now. Hopefully they can get the site fix soon.

  2. Boo hoo my life isn't the same without Shia Chat :-(

  3. Four days?! That's too long. I wonder what's going on with SC. Anyone heard anything from the admins?

  4. While we wait patiently for the site to be up, let's take this opportunity to visit our fellow ShiaChatter's blogs

  5. That forum has completely turned around from a couple of years ago and before. It was basically just a bunch of kids with all of the good people who had at least a drop of reality in their brains gone, unregistered, or banned for telling people the world really works. Extremist salafis and wahabis had free run of the place to say and do as they pleased as shi'ites were edited out by the new batch of mods and absentee admins. Good job shiachat, I applaud you all.

  6. I don't really know how interesting/not interesting SC has been in the recent times because I don't get to visit the site very much. Whenever I'm online especially on weekends, I can find some topics that are really interesting. People generally get back what they put into the forum, so if you didn't put anything, then you'll not get much out of it.

I hope they get the site up and working soon.

  7. i wonder if the site is coming back...

  8. This is a bit worrying. ShiaChat is still down and this is day # 5.

You guys are not praying hard enough! :(

  9. day 6 site is still down.... :'(

I wonder is the admins are looking into it..

  10. What is actually going on? Why don't the admins let us know what's happening through shiachat fb or something, it's taking too long it feels like forever! :(

  11. ShiaChat facebook page is run by Ali Imran and I think he's somewhere in Qum, studying. He may not be aware that the site is down. I'm wondering if this is a routine scheduled maintenance (upgrade) or if the site has been hacked. And why is the aimislam site up? I thought both of the sites (SC and aim) were collocated on the same server, so if SC goes down so must the aim site but that is not the case right now.

  12. Maybe it is a test, to keep people away for a while from Shiachat. Recently there was too much fight over there and a lot of Wahabis roaming around.

    ReplyDelete
  13. But the above is just one idea. Perhaps the most unspectacular thing in the world has happened, a normal upgrade.

  14. Khair inshallah, hopefully the admins will get the site running up again.

  15. We are going into day #7 of no ShiaChat. This is most unusual. I think something serious has happened to the site. If they cannot get the site up in the next day or two, then we should probably move on with our life without ShiaChat.

  16. This is worrying, Shiachat just can't cease to exist in a moment when it was up throughout the years and there were some amazing posts, I bookmarked a few because they were too good to let go of. I truely hope they're fixing whatever has occured otherwise it would be a great loss :( There is no other forum that has this community feel and I pray they get the site up asap!

  17. Gypsy for someone who rarely goes on SC these days, you sure are getting desperate counting down the days...

This is what happens when you let wahabis run free, while intellectual shiites are banned for speaking the truth

    ReplyDelete
  18. Over a week now. Maybe the sunnis have paid the admin to shut it down?

  19. Well, I'm seeing an unusual message on ShiaChat.com: "This domain has just been registered for one of our customers!
Domain registration and webhosting at best prices". So, they are working on the site, I hope. This looks to me like a classic case of web-jacking.

I disagree with the commenter who said checking on ShiaChat uptime status or talking about the site being down is an act of desperation. Look around you buddy, can you see any other Shia Forum in the world that has influenced more people or brought soo many Shias together from all over?

I'm getting lots of visitors (in hundreds) to my blog who are arriving here after searching for ShiaChat down/offline. It's just a common courtesy on my part to inform people of the status of the site, even when you are not a regular user/poster.

  21. ShiaChat facebook msg:

"Fellow ShiaChatters, we apologize for the extended outage that ShiaChat.com has been experiencing the past few days. Due to a server hard drive failure, we're forced to rebuild everything from scratch though luckily there will be no data loss and all post and accounts will be there once we are back online. We expect another few hours or so."

    Yaay finally! Great news :D

  23. Great news indeed. Not the hardware failure ..lol.. but the fact that they are working around-the-clock (I hope) to get the site up! I guess we should check back later as per the message on ShiaChat.com. Also great news is that they are not losing data.

  24. Ummahchat.com looks good and I made an account.....I have been told the pervs and wahabis will not be having free open season there either.

  25. UmmahChat.com is looking very pretty. I guess that site can be a great alternative for people to go to when SC is down. The only suggestion I can give is not to follow the ShiaChat site format soo much. Just be a different site and not an alternate to ShiaChat. Don’t compete with ShiaChat directly because many have tried before and none has lived to tell their success.

    1. Yes, a different style might be nice on there....but I guess that is up to the owner. However I think that the lack of success was in a time before so many people were frustrated with what was going on at SC.....and I am not just saying this because I was banned, as you know I have been voicing my frustrations to you for a while now as have others. Honestly the site started going downhill when you quit your admin job and ya aba went missing in action.

      Delete
    2. Oh yes I forgot to add.....he is not really competing with SC as you can see here....he wants to make a non biased platform for discussion http://www.ummahchat.com/index.php?/topic/28-shiachat-and-uc-future/?p=90

I think he just likes the IP board software

    3. So, you are planning to be a non-sectarian forum for all Muslims? That’ll never work. You guys should lower your expectation a bit. Muslims are deeply sectarian. They are killing each other for imaginary reasons about something that may or may not have occurred over a thousand years ago. Even the Wikipedia entry about Sectarianism is mostly about Shia-Sunni conflicts from all over the world. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sectarianism

Also, I’m seeing a lot of banned users there. Is that the new gathering place for members who are banned from SC?

Just saw a new message on the ShiaChat facebook page:
"All, we're still working on bringing ShiaChat.com back to life after the hard drive failure. We're almost there, the good news is there will be no data loss and you all had a great time off from ShiaChat to study for your exams and focus on your careers and families".

  26. Gypsy that is what he said....it is not my forum. I think it could be interesting

    ReplyDelete
  27. Good luck to you guys anyway. Hope the forum will prosper in the future.

I’ll be here, working on my blog throughout this year. So, you know where to find me.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I didn't even realize that your blog is back up until the past few days. I even emailed you once asking why you shut it down but never heard back. Anyway Gypsy about the ummahchat.....just remember quantity of large amount of users doesn't always equate to quality. I for one would like to see you post about your research into other sects there if time allows, I know you get busy at times. :D

  29. It has been up since February of this year. When I re-started blogging, I posted this message to inform people that I was back http://researchintoothersects.blogspot.com/2013/02/blog-back-online.html and would never shut off my blog again even when I'm not active. I was getting too many private messages asking me why the blog is inaccessible. Can you imagine, some folks even said that they liked my blog! I'm generally not very active over the summer, but when it’s winter and with fewer things to do outside, I suddenly became active. Even if I don’t get to blog much in the future, I’m never ever going to shut off the site.

I don’t think I can participate much online anymore, too many things happening in life. I just can’t seem to dedicate time for internet forum, like I used to. I’m not going to fall off the radar, I’ll still be online, but hopefully more on my blog and less on forum. Though internet forum can be very addictive and you have to literally control yourself and walk away from some very interesting discussions.

    1. ummahchat...not really. How can an Admin say to a critic So goodbye then and deletes posts that fast(within a week)?

      Delete
    2. You were doing more than being a critic.....you are being outright insulting and abusive.....that causes a ban in most places. At least they deleted you and didn't put a big fat ban on your name everywhere.

      Delete
    3. It is not about my account really. I have just observed how the admins there deal with critics...

      Delete
    4. ^ Only two people have been banned as far as I know. One posted an advertisement for sex toys for his first post. The second posted pornography in 3 places. Those aren't critics. ShiaChat would ban them too.

Yeah, it was retarded for their entire accounts and posts to be deleted. I'll speak with the admin that did that.

      Delete
    5. ^Maybe you are not aware and came later, there was another member who also posted on SC without getting banned and he was banned or removed there. I want to see you criticize the "admins" there like on Shiachat and not get banned.

    1. Dear Anonymous Coward,

Nice cheap shot that you choose Lebanon as your target article....I wasn't born yesterday. I am not denying that this goes on, however it isn't as prevalent in Lebanon as in other places........there is no need to target Syrian domestic workers because if there are many clubs, brothels full of Russian or any nationality you desire, and Syrian street walkers in certain areas of the city who are willing in Lebanon at the moment....it is well known. If you want to know who the real pervs are why don't you speak of the khaleeji pedophiles who are buying Syrian children http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=485_1381965874#4LkMX86kKP8REuIk.01

  36. ImAli, that video is shocking. I just don't understand why would any sane Syrian women go out with Saudis much less contracting Sunni Misyar marriage for prostitution. Saudis are paying to destroy their country as we speak. If that reason alone is not sufficient enough, Saudis are also fat and very unattractive looking.
