Women have almost Avengers like Super Powers

Two large quakes with magnitudes of 6.4 and 6.3 struck East Azerbaijan province (in Iran) on Saturday afternoon, flattening villages and injuring thousands around the towns of Ahar, Varzaghan, and Harees, near the provincial capital of Tabriz. The death toll is around 300 with thousands of injured. (Reuters)

Iran is located on several seismic fault lines and is very prone to earthquakes. It experienced at least one earthquake per-day, too minor to make any serious damages.

Two years ago, a Muslim cleric from Iran speculated that Iran's earthquakes are caused by immodestly dressed women.

That's very powerful. Women have almost Avengers like super powers to shake and move earth rocks and craters.

To be fair, this 'blaming of the natural disasters on women/group of people' is not unique to Muslims.

In 2004, When Asian Tsunami hit countries in South Asia, the religious folks from world's major religions were quick to point out that this was God's wrath.

Religious people are just that way. They always need more supernatural reasons to explain natural disasters.

  1. I notice you said this

"Religious people are just that way. They always need more supernatural reasons to explain natural disasters."

I don't think this religious, it actually superstitious people that think these crazy things. I noticed these superstitious men love blaming it on women more often than not too. It just blows my mind!. I guess the stereotypes about women being the superstitious one of the two sexes is wrong LOL.

  2. Religious people are also very superstitious.

I'm constantly debating with myself on the proper terminology when referring to the clerics, mullahs and especially those who are ranked highly on the religious hierarchy. The news article always refer them as Islamist. That's an odd word. I mean what exactly is an Islamist?

why shouldn't we refer to people based on their religious affiliation especially when their arguments are always made on the basis of their religious faith? It's a tough call.

BTW, did you read the post about the first Saudi woman in Olympic? http://researchintoothersects.blogspot.com/2012/08/first-saudi-woman-in-olympic.html

She's already being referred to as the “Olympic Whore”.

  3. Yes your are correct about the religious being superstitious....however I noticed this amount of superstition is more common among the older generation, and the young ones who possess this amount of superstition are usually zealots.

As for the Saudi women in the Olympics.....it doesn't surprise me at all. I totally expected that type of reaction from them.
